Why does chicory extract have so many uses?
Chicory is rich in crude protein, crude fat, and crude fiber, and also contains essential amino acids, vitamins, and trace elements. It has a good taste and is a medicinal and edible plant.
The dried chicory (Cichorium intybus L) fleshy rhizomes are roasted and crushed, and then extracted with water or light alcohol containing 20% to 40% to obtain the chicory extract.
Pharmacological effects of chicory extract:
1. Chicory extract is rich in amino acids, of which 9 essential amino acids are higher than alfalfa powder, and are rich in vitamins, carotene, and calcium.
2. Chicory extract can reduce blood sugar levels, generate low heat energy, improve lipid metabolism, and reduce blood cholesterol and triglyceride content. Chicory extract has an obvious uric acid-lowering effect.
Natural products extracted from chicory as raw materials are widely used as feed green additives, natural food ingredients, drug carriers, and vaccine adjuvants.
