Use of pyrethrum extract in the livestock industry

Pyrethrum is a perennial herb of the Compositae family, about half a meter tall, with mostly white flowers. The pyrethrum likes warm, suitable for neutral soil and weak acid soil. Pyrethrum likes moist, thick, sandy loam soil, it can grow robustly under favorable environmental conditions, and the pyrethrin content is also high.

Pyrethrin is one of the least toxic products of existing pesticides and is the main component of pyrethrum extract. The U.S. EPA has tested that after long-term feeding of large doses of pyrethrum extract to rodents: in real life, the daily oral dose is as high as 5000mg/L before discomfort occurs. 

OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor, has invested a lot of human and financial resources to conduct research on the safety of pyrethrins to humans. The results show that natural pyrethrin is a high-efficiency, low-toxicity, and low-residue insecticide.

Moreover, pyrethrins have a good insecticidal effect, and insects are not easy to develop drug resistance. Due to the presence of detoxification enzymes in insects, when pyrethrin enters the body of insects, the detoxification enzymes cause some active ingredients to fail. After adding PBO (piperonyl butoxide), PBO inhibits the detoxification effect of detoxification enzymes in advance. This technology makes natural pyrethrins insecticidal efficiency is increased by 3-10 times.
